Russia sets stricter export grain quality standards
MOSCOW, Nov 28 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight Service has set stricter requirements for exported grain quality because the quality of grain sent abroad deteriorated noticeably in January–November, Alexander Isayev, the authority’s grain quality control department director, told PRIME Friday.
“We can cut the issuance of export certificates three times because we will have to deny giving phytosanitary documents for grain which does not comply with the requirements,” Isayev said.
The amount of wild plants’ seeds detected in exported grain more than doubled on the year in January–November, he said.
Russian Grain Union’s President Arkady Zlochevsky forecast no fall in grain exports because market participants are aware of the new requirements.
